Educational Programs Associate – Academic Affairs, McGovern Medical School

 

McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure faculty position in the Office of Educational Programs / Office of Professionalism.

 

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Office of Educational Programs:

 

  • Develops, implements, and compiles assessments.

  • Evaluate and makes recommendations to enhance program effectiveness.

  • Provides consultation and training for committees, departments, academic administrators, faculty, residents, and students.

  • Collaborates with faculty and other staff to design and evaluate assessments for the UME and GME medical education programs.

  • Conducts program evaluation of the Medical Education curricula and academic programs and presents summarizing findings to the Office of Educational Programs, the Curriculum Committee, and Graduate Medical Education Committee.  

  • Provides faculty, student, resident, and post-doctorate workshops related to educational research methods (primarily quantitative) and teaching evaluation strategies.  Leads efforts to guide/collaborate with faculty, students, and residents to conduct educational scholarship.  

  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to conduct and publish educational research. 

 

Office of Professionalism:

 

  • Facilitates cohesion of the numerous established McGovern professionalism-related programs and activities, such as education in professional identity formation, interprofessional education, humanism, wellness, peer behavior regulation, diversity, and psychologically safe learning environments. 

  • Develops and participates in professionalism and learning environment research.  

  • Develops curricula focused on professionalism and the learning environment.

  • Initiates and participates in research focused on professionalism.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a similar field

  • Experience in an academic position, preferably a medical school

  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff.

  • Proven record of accomplishment in educational research

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities

  • Strong organizational and, managerial skills

  • Oral and Written Communication Skills

  • Verbal Communication Skills for different audiences

  • Focus group moderator skills

  • Microsoft Office suite including Excel and PowerPoint
