Job Summary

The University of Utah Division of Epidemiology has an opening for a full-time senior research analyst. The analyst will support multiple research and evaluation projects within the Survey Design and Measurement Core of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the Utah Cancer Registry. The analyst participates in study design; collaborates in writing reports, research proposals, and manuscripts; and works to broaden research within the associated program or department.


  1. Assists with survey study design development and other research as needed within the program or department.
  2. Collaborates with investigators and makes recommendations regarding questionnaire development and pretesting, survey recruitment techniques, and survey protocols
  3. Devises methods and procedures for collecting data, prepares data collection instruments, and oversees data collection, including writing and maintaining accompanying procedural materials and documentation
  4. Designs and conducts evaluation projects to improve data quality
  5. Assists in writing and disseminating reports, manuscripts, presentation materials, and research proposals
  6. Conducts literature reviews and assembles research methods resources
  7. Assists instructor of master’s level survey design course
  8. May prepare and maintain regulatory documents associated with studies
  9. May format data and conduct statistical analysis

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency; plus four years related research experience, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.

A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Master’s degree in relevant social science or related field
  • Survey research experience, including in questionnaire development and deploying surveys
  • Completed coursework in survey methods and/or research methods
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with survey sample design and experience with survey data weighting methods
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
